








Esther “Patty” Almeda Carrico, age 86 of Newark DE, passed away on January 15, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 15, 1931 in New Castle, DE to the late Clarence B. Dean and Anna McCully Alker.
Patty served in the U.S. Army before beginning her journey into motherhood. She then became employed by the United States Postal Office for more than 20 years. During her retirement years, she was an avid reader and enjoyed her time by traveling, going to the beach, and watching sports. Patty was a creative artist and her talents were visible in her paintings, embroidery, and cross stitch that often became pieces of art hung in her family’s homes.
Surviving Patty are her sons: Alva N. “Buster” Branch (Janet), Gary A. Branch, Steve J. Branch (Vera); daughters: Kathy Branch Ryser (Ken) and Robin D. Russell, all of Newark; Patty is also survived by her grandchildren: Shawn, Chris, Laura, Jennifer, Shannon, Kelly, and Steven; and nine great grandchildren who will greatly miss their Gram. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Carrico.
Graveside services will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1pm on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018. Please meet at R.T. Foard & Jones Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 at 12pm to process to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made payable to the “Food Bank of Delaware” and send in care of the funeral home.
