Essie May Tuggle, age 90, of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Little Sisters of the Poor in Newark, DE. She was born on May 19, 1925 in Russell County, VA to the late Evans Sylvester and Mary Jane Stillwell Cordle.
She is survived by her children; Charles Sylvester Tuggle and his companion, Shirley Stoneback of Oxford, PA, Arnold Edward Tuggle and his wife, Theresa of Lansing, NC, William Reese Tuggle and his companion, Lisa Abel, of Downingtown, PA, Jerry Wayne Tuggle and his wife, Diana of Defuniak Springs, FL, Essie Jane Combs of Newark, DE, and Dorothy Ann Carroll of Newark, DE; brothers, Bob Cordle, Charles Cordle and Frank Cordle, all of which are of Bristol, VA; sisters, Lucille Lowing of Erin, TN; Lori Furches of Bristol, TN; and Annie Fleenor of Bristol, TN; and 21 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by husband, Charles Taylor Tuggle; son, Bobby Joe Tuggle, and son, William Clarence Tuggle.
A service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. Family and friends may visit beginning at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Little Sisters of the Poor” sent in c/o the funeral home.
