Ernest “Ernie” Luther Alexander, Jr., age 68, of North East, MD, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023. He was born in Baltimore, MD, on October 01, 1954 to the late Ernest Luther Alexander, Sr. and Margaret Marion (Castleberry) Pierson.
Ernie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for Herr’s Food, Inc. for many years before retiring. Ernie loved going to his cabin in Potter County, PA where he enjoyed hunting especially for deer and turkey. During his free time, he would also go fishing and hunting with his son or the guys. Ernie’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, wife, kids, grandchildren, and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Marjorie Ray Alexander; five children: Patricia Godwin, Stephaine Alexander, Dawn Alexander, Margie Eller-Rudy, and Ernest “Buddy” Alexander, III; thirteen grandchildren: Devan Betts, Matthew Godwin, Madison Godwin, Jeffrey Renshaw Jr, Logan Godwin, Shelby Eller, Alaina Eller, Kayleigh Alexander, Erika Eller, Austin Alexander, Joshua Eller, Payton Eller, and Coal Rudy; two great-grandchildren: Charlotte Betts and Reid Betts; four brothers: Guy Richardson, Rainey Kitts, James Kitts, and Donald Santiago; and five sisters: Kathleen Fink, Ernestine Holman, Mary Harrell, Pam Cooper, and Cindy Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Ernie is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alyssa Renshaw; two brothers: Roger Alexander and Harry Lee Alexander; and three sisters: Nellie Pugh, Suzy Haro, and Hazel Ewing.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 11:00AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD, 21911 where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00AM. Burial will be held privately.
