Erica Marie Pomichalek, 25, of Bear, DE, passed away unexpectedly at home on September 7, 2013.
Born in Elkton, MD on May 10, 1988, Erica was the daughter of Laura Pomichalek and the late Mark Pomichalek. She was a graduate of Hodgson Vo Tech and worked as a millwright and also for a time was employed at W.L. Gore and Associates. She was a talented softball player, played in the Little League World Series and also enjoyed music. She was a member of VFW Post 475 Ladies Auxiliary and Pine Grove Baptist Church. She had a special love for pit bulls, especially her dog Ice.
In addition to her mother, Erica is survived by her sister Trista A. Jianniney of Newark; her grandmother, Alice Burrell of North East; stepsisters Dianna and Deborah Witmer of St. Georges DE; aunts Gail Pomichalek Gerace of Wilmington, and Linda Bish of Mount Joy, PA; an uncle Joseph Burrell of North East; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents William and Maryanna (Pam) Pomichalek and Henry (Hank) Burrell.
A service honoring her life will be held at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711 on Friday September 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Elkton. Contribution checks in Erica’s memory may be made payable to Pit bull Pride of Delaware and mailed to the funeral home.
