Emily L. Given, 90, of Conowingo, MD, formerly a lifetime member of Chesapeake City, MD, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014.
Born April 13, 1924 in Wilmington, DE, Emily was the daughter of the late Robert and Marian Given. Emily was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesapeake City, MD, where she was the treasurer of the Sunday school and also a member of the Choir and Women’s Society. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge where she held many offices. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and the Eastern Shore Thresherman Association. Emily greatly enjoyed swimming and did so actively as a member of the YMCA in Elkton, MD.
In addition to her parents, Emily was preceded by three brothers, Gordon Given, Howard Given, and William Given; a nephew, David Given; and two twin sisters. Emily is survived by 7 nieces and nephews as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Services for Emily will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 450 Third Street, Chesapeake City, MD 21915, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church, 450 Third St. Chesapeake City , Md. 21915. Also contributions may be made payable to Amedisys Hospice and sent in care to R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
