Ellis M. Schorah, 93, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital on November 8, 2014.
He was born at home in Wilmington on March 20, 1921 and was the son of the late Joseph and Menerva (Minnie) Schorah. He was a life member of Wilmington Manor Fire Co. as a firefighter and fire policeman. Ellis served as an Army paratrooper during World War II.
He is survived by his two sons, James L. Schorah (Irene) of Lewes, DE and Steven E. Schorah (Kay) of New Castle; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Velma (Tiny) Schorah and his son, Donald Schorah.
Services will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 N. DuPont Pkwy, New Castle, DE, 19720 on Thursday November 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation 1 hour prior. Burial will follow at Gracelawn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wilmington Manor Fire Co. and mailed to R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
