Elliott Cowan, age 97, passed away November 7, 2017 in Wilmington, DE. He was born in Everett, MA February 11, 1920 to the late Joseph and Julia Cohen.

Elliott was a man a few words. He was self-employed and ran his own supplies business for over 30 years. Elliott always wanted to provide for his family, and also gave 25 years of his time working for the U.S. Postal Services.

Elliot is survived by son, Andrew Cowan (Barbara) of Newark, DE; daughter, Joanne Franknecht of Houston, TX; and granddaughter Abigail Cowan of Newark, DE. In addition to his parents, Elliott is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Cowan.

Services for Elliott Cowan will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Elliott was a wonderful friend and we enjoyed dining with him for several years every day at lunch and dinner. Blessings to him and his family.

Elliott was a very special friend to my mother and father, who enjoyed his wry sense of humor and zest for life. Elliott and I bonded over our mutual love of all things Boston, but mainly his beloved Red Sox and Patriots. He was the quintessential gentleman and I will miss him very much. I will remember him every time I go to Fenway. Ted Williams is waiting for Elliott on the other side. Andrew, you were a good son and my heart goes out to you, Abigail and Barbara.

We were so sorry to hear about Elliot's passing. He was such a sweet man and such a good friend to my dad. I hope they are both up there talking about corned beef and pastrami. Our thoughts are with you. Andi Moses
