Ellie Dugger, of Rising Sun, MD passed away Friday, March 11, 2016.
Born in Freeland (Baltimore County) Maryland, Ellie was the daughter of the late James and Mae Pugh. She attended elementary school in Baltimore County and high school in Rising Sun, where she graduated, receiving awards for excelling in shorthand and typing. She worked at Bainbridge Naval Training Center as a secretary at the Manpower Center until the base closed then transferred to the Perry Point VA Medical Center as secretary to the Chief Engineer. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she served as Chairman of the Administrative Board for two years and was an affiliate member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Rock Hall. Her interests included spending time with her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles, working in the flower garden and traveling to Florida to visit relatives.
She is survived by her two sons, Bryan and his wife, Lyn of Rising Sun and Mark and his wife, Laura of Conowingo, MD; brothers, Marshall of Freeland, MD, Breece of Crossville, TN, James of Stasuma, FL, Robert of Glen Rock, PA, Daniel of Conowingo, MD, and Stanley of Branson, MO; sisters, Dorothy Surber of Manchester, TN, Bertha Weaver of Peach Bottom, PA, Shirley Horton of Conowingo, MD, and Sharon Smith of York, PA; grandchildren, Kayla of Charlotte, NC and Emilee, Cameryn, and Jacob of Conowingo, MD; and grandson, Jesse of Rising Sun, MD.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Tate of Essex, MD and Ruth Morris of Gettysburg, PA, and her long time fiancé, Robert “Bob” McMullen of Chestertown, MD.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 310 Pilottown Rd., Peach Bottom, PA 17563, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911.
