Elizabeth R. Hilaman, 94, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away January 18, 2014 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center.
Born on April 5, 1919 in West Chester, PA , Elizabeth was the daughter of the late A. Brinton and Mary Cloud Reynolds. She graduated in 1943 from Earlham College in Richmond, IN with a degree in Home Economics. She was active in many organizations, among them Calvert Grange, Calvert PTA, and Rosebank United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and secretary/treasurer for Hilaman Milling, Inc.
She is survived by three sons, Charles R. Hilaman and wife Eleanor of Nottingham, PA, Robert L. Hilaman and wife Theresa of Elkton, MD and James E. Hilaman and wife Betsy of Colora, MD; and three daughters, Mary Beth Bickel and husband Harry of Airville, PA, Debbie Pierce of Newark, DE and Susan Vadala and husband Leo of Bowie, MD; 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, C. Raymond Hilaman; two brothers and a sister.
A service honoring her life will be held Thursday January 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosebank United Methodist Church with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be Friday January 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Oxford Cemetery. Contributions in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to Calvert Manor Nursing Scholarship Fund and mailed to R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911.
