Elizabeth O. “Betty” Alderson, age 77, of Chesapeake City, MD passed away Monday, July 8, 2013. She was born in Kirkwood, Delaware on November 23, 1935; and was the youngest of nine children born to Harvey and Mabel Ogden.

Betty graduated from Middletown High School in 1953. Betty met her wonderful husband Robert L. Alderson at a Valentine’s dance and they married on September 8, 1956. She worked for many companies over the years including Chrysler, Tidewater and Bohemia Manor High School. Betty also worked for the Clerk of Courts Office in the Cecil County Courthouse. Later in life Betty became an avid golfer, she was a member of the Delaware Ladies Golf Association and was the DLGA Club Champion at Del Castle in 2011. She and Bob traveled across the country to play many major PGA courses; she attended the Masters in Augusta, GA many times over the years.

Betty is survived by her daughter Robin L. Alderson of Morrisville, NC and her son Robert L. Alderson Jr. of Elkton, MD; granddaughters, Laura Brandt and her husband Ryan of Charlotte, NC, and Megan Ely of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Cora O. Butler of Newark, DE and Ethel O. Lloyd of Dothan, AL; brother, Gilbert Ogden of Kirkwood, DE. Betty was also blessed with a great grandson Ryder Brandt, who she cherished dearly.

In addition to her parents, Betty was also predeceased by her husband Robert L. Alderson.

Services will be held in Betty’s honor at 11AM Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 450 3rd St, Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, checks can be made payable to Trinity UMC or The First Tee (golf organization) and mailed to R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 318 George St, Chesapeake City, MD 21915.
