Elias C. Bendeck, 86, of Newark, DE died peacefully at Gilpin Hall in Wilmington, DE Thursday, February 19, 2015.
Born April 29, 1928 in Hati, Elias was the son of the late Constantine and Mary (Kawas) Bendeck. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newark. He retired from the Chrysler Corporation in Newark, DE. The family would like to thank the staff with Gilpin Hall and those with Delaware Hospice for helping to make Elias’ last days comfortable.
Elias is survived by his loving wife, Janice E. Bendeck; two daughters, Leila Marie Bendeck and her husband, Jeffrey Thomas Ogren of Oakton, VA and Gwyneth Christine Powell of Encinitas, CA; grandson, Kyle Jeffrey Matthews; two granddaughters, Elyse Bendeck Ogren and Kira Bendeck Ogren; brother, Zahloul Bandak of Amman, Jordan; sisters Carmen Bandak of San Diego, CA and Blanca Talhami of Skokie, IL; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, Elias was preceded in death by his brother, Ibraham Bendeck and his sister, Adele DePalma.
A service will be held in Elias’ honor at 12pm Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church of Newark, 292 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may visit beginning at 11am. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made payable to the First Presbyterian Church of Newark and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711.
