I just learned of Mr. Stowell’s passing and I did not want to miss the opportunity to honor this great man! Mr. Stowell was my physics teacher at Christiana High School, in 1983-84, and was the best teacher of any subject that I ever had! I ran with a small crew, and Mr. Stowell’s gruff demeanor had a pretty nervous when the academic year started but, we figured him outlol He didn’t want us to believe that he was a nice guy but, we learned that he liked us and that he cared. I told Mr. Stowell that I wanted to be an architect and that his class would be necessary to understand building structure. I wish that I had been able to share my success which, in part, is due to him!

To the Stowell family, your father, grandfather and uncle was the best at CHS and I still remember how he pushed and encouraged us almost 40 years ago.

Dear Family of Mr. Stowell, Forty years ago I was a freshman at Christiana High. I had never in my life done well in math until I sat in Mr. Stowell's Algebra class. He was the first, and only math teacher able to teach me Math. I tell people to this day what a great, great teacher he was. In his class I received my only A in Math. And we all know, Ed Stowell never gave a grade you didn't deserve. When I was a senior he was my Physics teacher and again he made that click as well. I will never, ever forget Ed Stowell.
