Edward T. “Ed” Dever, age 72, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born on September 3, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA to the late William and Jane (Black) Dever.

Ed served his country proudly in the United States Army. He spent his career working with information technology, specializing in communications and computers. Ed retired from Sun Oil and went on to become an owner of a Laundromat spending his time counting quarters. Ed was an avid thoroughbred race horse fan and owner that enjoyed spending time at Delaware Park. He was good with his hands and enjoyed keeping busy helping his family with perfecting construction and repair projects.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Donna (Thielmann) Dever of Bear, DE; two daughters: Denise Butler and her husband Dan of Norwood, PA, and Kim Wanner and her husband Steve of Ocean City, MD, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, his brother, Jack Dever and his wife Joanne of Ephrata, PA; one niece and ten nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister Jane Vitale-McNeil and his brother, Billy Dever.

A memorial service for Ed will be held on November 9, 2016 at 10AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. 318 George St. Chesapeake City, MD 21915. Friends and family can begin visiting at 9AM. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made payable to either “Seasons Hospice” or “The American Cancer Society” and sent in care of the funeral home.
