Edward “Ed” Valentine Twardus of Oxford, PA, age 90, passed away on April 28, 2021. Ed was born on September 11, 1930 in West Springfield, MA to the late Walenty L. Twardus and Caroline (Kulik) Twardus.
Ed graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1953 with a degree in chemical engineering. He began a 40 year career with the DuPont Company Engineering Dept. in Wilmington, DE. Assignments took Ed to numerous plant and laboratory sites in the US, Canada and Mexico plus residences in New York, Indiana, New Jersey, Virginia and Tennessee. Following two additional years with BE&K Engineering, Ed retired in 1993. After retirement, Ed worked by Walt’s side for over 20 years helping him build his tax service. Ed met Eleanor at a church picnic over cake, coffee and some “local bugs”. Their wedding took place on May 20, 1960. Both of them were raised in the Polish National Catholic Church and joined St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Newark, DE in 1962. Ed served on the Vestry, Finance Committee and also headed the Property Committee for many years. They currently both worship at St. Christopher’s in Oxford, PA. He also enjoyed playing bridge.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eleanor Twardus; sons: Andy Twardus, Walter Twardus; daughter: Victoria Meyer and her husband Peter; grandchildren: Jessica, Carre’, Michael, Shaina, Lukas and Markus.
Services for Ed will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Willow Tree Hospice” and sent in care of R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.
