Ed was a Mechanical Engineer by trade and loved repairing, working on and improving all sorts of equipment. Ed enjoyed square dancing. He spent a lot of his time with his son Hudson, whom he imbued with his love of engineering and helped him earn his Eagle rank with Boy Scout Troop #28. Ed and Hudson had a special bond that will never be forgotten.

Ed is survived by his wife, Amy Dedrick of Rising Sun, MD; son, Hudson Dedrick of Rising Sun, MD; sisters: Diane Dedrick and her husband, Joseph Carabetta of Montrose, CO and Marion Dedrick of Elizabeth City, NC.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Dedrick.

Services will take place in the Spring.

Ed was a joy to know. We were his square dance friends from Do Pas O. We were so sad to hear of his passing. We just met his son right before the holiday break. I know he will miss his father. We are praying for your family as you go through this loss.

I am a newer dancer and got to know Ed through the Garage Gang. He was always a pleasure to dance with---enjoyed his spirit and dance abilities.

I am the Corresponding Secretary for the Mason Dixon Square Dancers Federation, located in Maryland. On behalf of the dancers, we wanted to offer our thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Square dancers hold all their members dear and to lose one at any time is devastating. We know that warm memories will replace the sorrow that you are feeling today. We will always save a space for him in the square and remember him always.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I knew Ed through square dancing and he was always fun to be with and always ready to lend a hand. He is missed and we send our condolences to his family.

My sympathy to the entire family on the untimely accidental passing of Ed.

So sorry to hear of Ed’s passing he was a intelligent, gentle, kind soul when I worked on APG with him. I always enjoyed talking to Ed. Years later when I saw him he had Hudson and you could see how much his son was loved by him. Gone too soon but the memories of good times with Ed bring comfort. Prayers for the family of peace and comfort during this difficult time.
