In Loving Memory of Edward “Eddie” Alan Lynch, Sr.
Edward “Eddie” Alan Lynch, Sr., a cherished pillar of the Rising Sun community, gracefully departed this life on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on October 7, 1956, to the late Ralph Richard Lynch and Gloria Dean (Bryant) Lynch, Eddie’s journey was marked by boundless passion and unwavering dedication to both his family and his community.
Eddie’s formative years were illuminated by his academic and athletic prowess at Rising Sun High School, where he distinguished himself not only in the classroom but also on the field, showcasing his talents in soccer, basketball, and baseball. Following his graduation in 1974, he continued his educational pursuits at Cecil Community College while continuing to excel in baseball, eventually catching the eye of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team, a testament to his exceptional skill and dedication to the sport.
Beyond his achievements in baseball, Eddie’s legacy is deeply intertwined with his commitment to nurturing young talent. His tenure as both player and coach in the Johnnie’s Semi-Pro baseball league left an indelible mark on countless aspiring athletes. However, it was his passion for coaching that truly set him apart. A devoted father, he not only coached his own children but also founded the esteemed “Legends” baseball/softball teams, providing countless young girls and boys with opportunities for growth and success, many of whom went on to receive college scholarships—a testament to Eddie’s profound impact on shaping future generations.
In addition to his dedication to sports, Eddie was a dedicated employee, devoting over 30 years of his life to Merit Services as a skilled sheet metal worker. His commitment and work ethic served as a beacon of inspiration to colleagues and friends alike, earning him the respect and admiration of all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
Yet, amidst his many accomplishments, Eddie’s most cherished role was that of a devoted husband and father. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by his beloved wife, Renie Lynch, and his five adoring children: Edward Jr. and his wife, Maggie, David A. Lynch and his wife, Jamie, Matthew A. Lynch, Kimberly A. Lynch and her significant other, Jeffery, and Jordan I. Lynch. Additionally, he leaves behind a grandson, Cameron A. Lynch, who will undoubtedly carry forward his grandfather’s spirit of resilience and compassion.
In the hearts of those who knew him best, Eddie will forever be remembered for his warmth, his unwavering integrity, and his boundless generosity. Though he has departed this world, his spirit will continue to illuminate the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
