Edna Bullis Bledsoe, age 98, of Elkton, MD, and formerly of Sparta, NC, Passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Singerly Manor Nursing Home in Elkton, MD. She was born November 19, 1916 in North Wilkesboro, NC to the late William A. and Helen (Compton) Bullis.
A beautician by trade, she owned and operated “Edna’s Beauty Shop” in Elkton from 1954 to 1970. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sparta, NC and also attended First Baptist Church in North East, MD. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, and cooking, but her greatest joy came from being around her family and friends, who will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Bowie Bledsoe, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Newark, DE, and Sidney Alexander Bledsoe of Elkton, MD; grandchildren Kelley Benson of Etters, PA, Michael R. Bledsoe of Newark, DE, Jenifer Rollins of Bear, DE, Alicia Carpenter of Elkton, MD, and Rebecca Rappoccio of Ridgefield, CT; nine great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Thomas B. Bledsoe, Sr., a sister, Virginia Johnson, and a brother William Bullis.
A service will be held at 7PM on Monday, March 30, 2015 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, PA, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Family and friends may visit one hour prior beginning at 6PM. Burial will take place 1PM on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Sparta Cemetery in Sparta, NC.
