Earla R. Dollenger, age 88, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2016.
Born September 26, 1927 in Lewisville, PA, Earla was the daughter of the late Jahue and Lou Vicy (Webb) Rakes. Earla drove a school bus in her early years and worked at the Rising Sun sewing factory where she met her loving husband, Irvin. She retired as a nurse’s aide after a 20 year career with Calvert Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of Grace Bible Church. She was a great seamstress and could sew anything. She was known as the “Bear Lady” and was a “true Proverbs 31” woman. Her most cherished moments where those spent with her loving family.
Earla is survived by her son, Fred Dollenger and wife, Cindy; daughter, Betty Lou Lang and husband, Orville; 5 grandchildren, Kenneth Lang and wife, Michelle, Jay Lang and wife, Lynn, Judy Franklin and Preston, Lori Norris and husband, Lonnie, Steven Dollenger and wife, Lauren; 14 great grandchildren; and her brother, Earl Rakes.
Including her parents, Earla was preceded in death by her husband, A. Irvin Dollenger and 12 siblings.
A visitation will be held from 6-8PM Thursday, September 1, 2016 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. A celebration of Earla’s life will be held at 11AM Friday, September 2, 2016 at the funeral home where family and friends may visit beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Rosebank Cemetery.
