Earl L. Brown Sr.

Earl L. Brown, Sr., age 75, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2012. He was born on May 26, 1936 to the late Paul Raymond and Linda Mae (Carter) Brown.

Earl was an auto mechanic by trade and also worked in the drywall and flooring business. He enjoyed helping others, barbecues with his family that he called his “Mafia”, playing guitar, antique cars and telling jokes. Earl was a father of few, dad to many and loved by all whose life he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Leona (Lee) M. Brown of Newark, DE; sons, Earl L. Brown, Jr., and Russell J. Brown, both of DE; daughters, Belinda Nelson of SD, Anna M. Brown, Melissa Brown both of DE; step-son, James Wilson of KY; step-daughter, Bonnie Stephens of DE; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, James E. Brown and Raymond P. Brown, Jr. of DE; sisters, Florence Hall, Ruth Hurst and Shirley La Francis; and all of his extended family. Along with his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his brother, Herschel Brown.

The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and all of Earl’s caregivers.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at R.T. Foard and Jones, Inc., 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where friends and family may call one hour prior. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
