Earl Herbert Loomis, SRA, 79 passed away in Elkton, MD on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
Earl was born on November 22, 1935 in Chester County, PA to the late Earl Russell Loomis and Gladys McCorkle. He was a graduate of Downingtown High School in Downingtown, PA then attended Goldey–Beacom College in DE graduating with an associate’s degree in Accounting and Business.
Earl worked at First Federal Savings Fund in Wilmington DE where he served as Vice-President for 19 years. In 1982, Earl started Loomis Appraisal Company where he worked as a Real Estate Appraiser and he also taught appraising thru Loomis Appraisal School. He was a member of The Newark Rotary Club, Newark Country Club and the Newark United Methodist Church in which he was very active. Earl enjoyed golfing, camping with his family, going to various beaches for relaxation and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by their daughters, Keely Wikstrom and her husband Kevin of Newark, DE and Shelley Veasey of Baltimore, MD; 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the R. T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. A service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main Street, Newark, DE, 19711 where family and friends may visit starting at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery in Elkton, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Newark United Methodist Church, c/o R. T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711.

It is very difficult to adequately express the emotions at this time. Earl was a mentor as well as a friend. We have lost someone who meant so much to so many. He taught many of us in the appraisal profession "how it should be done" and he did so with knowledge, insight and humor.
