Dwight Marcus Woodard of Elkton, MD, left this world suddenly on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the age of 48. Born on January 14, 1974 in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of Emory Harry Woodard, III and the late Alice Wilhelmina Woodard (nee Pearson) and the devoted husband of Treneice Woodard.
Dwight graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Temple University in 1996 where he studied psychology and religion. He went on to earn a master’s degree in social work (MSW) from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998.
After graduation, Dwight became a social worker for the State of Delaware. He was a devoted Christian and was a member of Crossroad Christian Church in Dover, Delaware where he was involved in the children’s ministry. Dwight took great joy in sharing his culinary gifts with friends and family. Everything he cooked was imaginative and delicious, but he became known for his cupcakes. He was great in physical stature, but was always gentle, meek and kind. If a merry heart is good medicine, Dwight’s sense of humor healed many. He will be deeply missed.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Treneice Woodard (nee Reuben); daughter, Trinity Woodard; father, Emory Harry Woodard, III brother, Emory Woodard, IV (Talia); sister, Hope Jones (Claude); mother-in-law, Barbara Reuben; sister-in-law, Shneva Reuben; nephews, Judah Woodard and Anthony Jones; and niece, Amani Woodard.
A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard and Jones, 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711 where friends and family may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park Cemetery, 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, PA 19342.
