Dwight Edward Herd, age 95 of Wilmington, DE, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 26, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on July 8, 1928, in Zanesfield, OH to the late Delbert Herd and Margaret Zelma (Eddy) Herd.
Dwight was a proud US Army Veteran. After completing his service with the Army, Dwight worked as a sheet metal operator with the government. Dwight loved to construct things, taking pleasure in building his family home. He would spend time fixing things and being handy. Dwight took pride in his accomplishments. He restored a V1 Buzz Bomb that was recovered from England and brought to the United States to be displayed in the Smithsonian. Dwight was the creator of a part that was put on the Lunar Buggy, which is currently on the moon. Dwight belonged to the Bible Fellowship Church, where he was a very involved member. As the Patriarch of the family, Dwight always put his family first. He was a kind, caring, and loving person, who would help others when they were in need. Dwight will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to the aides and nurses from Accent Care for their help and care for Dwight, especially Rhadeshia.
