Dorothy Joanne (Vansant) Schlosser passed peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday morning, August 8, 2021. Joanne was 84 years old. She was born and raised in Newark and lived her entire life on the same farm. She was raised on a dairy farm and later boarded horses on that same farm, Pike Creek Hills Stables. She was an avid animal lover. She always had a loyal dog, usually a German Shepherd, by her side.
Joanne is predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years, Paul L. Schlosser, Sr. as well as Paul Schlosser Jr. & Nancy (Schlosser) Connell.
She is survived by Paulette (Bob) Ridgely, Kathryn Moore, and Garnet & Steve Dennis as well as grandchildren Patrick (Jess) Ridgely, Natalie Ridgely, Wesley Moore, Katelin Beach, Zach (Tori) Dennis, Jordan (Jordan) Dennis-Palmer, Christopher Dennis, Justin Dennis & great grandchild, Isaac Ridgely.
Gmom enjoyed having the grandkids play in the yard and on the farm. There are many special memories of time spent playing at Gmom’s. Most recently these times were filled with working jigsaw puzzles and eating cookies.
Joanne was always caring for people and animals. Over the past two and a half years, we were able to return that loving care, as she needed 24/7 assistance at home. She was cared for by her family and Himide, her wonderful caregiver. Himide became part of the family and we are so grateful to her for the excellent love and care she provided to Gmom.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Joanne, to the DE Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 or to Ebenezer UMC.
Services will be held at Ebenezer UMC 525 Polly Drummond Road, Newark, DE 19711 on Friday, August 13, 2021 beginning with visitation for family and friends at 10am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Cemetery following the service.
