Doris VanDyke, 92, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on March 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 15, 1924 in Lansing, NC, she was the daughter of the late William and Lona (Miller) Keys.
Doris was a homemaker and loved being with her family. She greatly enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds, especially with her Zinnia’s.
Doris is survived by her husband of over 75 years, Kenneth Dudley VanDyke of Rising Sun, MD; sons: Jake VanDyke (Joan), John VanDyke (Lynn), Jim VanDyke (Janet), and Jerry VanDyke (Debby) all of Rising Sun, MD; daughters: Sherb VanDyke (Ed Davis), Linda Holbrook (Bobby), and Patty Moore (Chuck) all of Rising Sun, MD; daughter-in-law, Sharon VanDyke; 5 siblings, 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren with more on the way, and her beloved cats, Sissy and Homer.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by 6 siblings and her son, Dick VanDyke.
A visitation for Doris will be held from 6-8PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. A celebration of Doris’s life will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Janes United Methodist Church, 213 N. Walnut Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, with a visitation beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery.
