Donna Rae (Strawbridge) Vaughan, age 85, of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away on December 6, 2022, at home, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Willie Ray Johnson and Ethel Frances (Strawbridge) Johnson and the beloved wife of the late John E. Vaughan, Sr., with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. Donna was a graduate of Rising Sun High School Class of 1955. She was a homemaker, raising 8 children and caring for her grandmother. A strong woman of many talents, Donna enjoyed reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, sewing, refinishing and caning furniture, and traveling with her husband in his tractor trailer for many years after all the children were grown. She also enjoyed eating out with her special friends and watching game shows and the rodeo.
Donna is survived by her children, Sue Vaughan, Tom Vaughan, Sr. (Gerry), Joyce Ragan, Brenda Goodman (Kenny), David Vaughan (Naomi), Anita Hennemuth (Will), and her son-in-law, Steve Kidd. She is also survived by her sister, Glenda Berczik (Bob) and brother, Walter Wilton Johnson (Linda), 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Donna is predeceased by her daughter, Judy Kidd, son, John E. Vaughan, Jr., and great grandson, Colton James Kidd.

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery.
