Donna Lee Kotkas, 79, of Rising Sun, Maryland
Donna Lee Kotkas of Rising Sun, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 22, 1947, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rena (née Pierce) and Paul Oglesby, and the devoted wife of the late Enn Kotkas, who predeceased her in 2016.
An artist and crafter at heart, Donna poured her creativity into every endeavor. She operated Grandma’s Country Crafts, where she shared her handmade works with the community. Especially gifted in drawing and painting—particularly nautical scenes—she was also admired for her beautiful floral arrangements. Donna found joy in antiquing and treasure-hunting through local thrift shops, often “going GaGa,” as she liked to say, over a special find.
Her kitchen was a place of warmth and care; every meal was thoughtfully prepared and treated as an occasion. Family members fondly remember her enchiladas and homemade meatloaf. A lifelong history enthusiast, Donna never missed a documentary on Ancient Egypt or other civilizations, always seeking a deeper understanding of the world and her place in it.
Above all, Donna loved her family. She adored her grandchildren, who were the true center of her world. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Donna is survived by her children, Erin (Lee) Mink, Erika Andrews, and Erik (Ann) Kotkas; her grandchildren, Dan Mink, Lauren Mink, Emily Mink, Madison Andrews, Zachery Andrews, and Evan Kotkas; and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at R. T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, Maryland. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Rising Sun Martial Arts School, 11 East Main Street, Rising Sun, Maryland.
