Donald “Don” Eugene Martin, age 84, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026, surrounded by family. Don was born November 6, 1941, in State Line, PA. He was the son of the late Adam C. Martin and the late Martha (Meyers) Martin.
Don was a simple man who found joy in life’s everyday moments. He had an interest in the stock market and could often be found checking the latest market updates. He enjoyed classic rock music, hearing great harmonies, and appreciated artistic expression in its many forms. A naturally creative and talented handyman, Don loved working on projects around the house. Whether building, repairing, or creating something new, he found great satisfaction in watching an idea come to life.
Don’s faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of his life. Through every season, he trusted in God’s faithfulness and found comfort in Christ’s love. He sacrificially served several churches throughout his life, not seeking recognition but simply looking for ways to help others.
Don genuinely enjoyed getting to know people—their stories, interests, and passions—and had a unique gift for connecting people with one another. Whether through a conversation, a word of encouragement, or an introduction to a new friend, he loved helping others build meaningful relationships. More than anything, Don wanted people to know the same hope, peace, and assurance he found in Jesus. His life reflected a quiet but steadfast faith, and he would want his legacy to point not to himself, but to the Savior he loved and trusted so deeply.
Don loved spending time with family. He treasured gatherings filled with conversation, laughter, and friendly poker games. Whether sharing stories around the table or simply enjoying time together, he considered his family one of God’s greatest blessings.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors and healthcare professionals who provided Don with compassionate care throughout the past several years. Specifically Dr. Roberto Ferro and Dr. John Reinhardt as their kindness, dedication, and support meant so much to Don and his family.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Anne M. Martin; children: Gretchen (Tod) Eisenhuth, Michael Martin, Jimmy (Mandy) Fannin, Jr., Jason (Erica) Fannin, and Maggie Crump; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild and one on the way; brother, Richard Martin, and sister, Barbara Ann (Larry) Miller.
A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Community Church, 6580 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, Delaware, 19707 on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Visitation at 11:00, celebration at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, consider a contribution to preborn.com or t2t.org
