Donald “Donnie” Edward White, 64 years old, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2022, at his home under the care of Amedisys Hospice. Donnie was born in Elkton, MD, on December 28, 1957, to Betty Irene White and the late Clarence Edward White.
As a lifelong resident of Rising Sun, MD, Donnie attended local schools, completing his education at Rising Sun High School. As a proud resident of Rising Sun, Donnie worked in several businesses in the town. His earliest employment was working with his parents at the family-owned business, White’s Shell. He later worked as the manager of the paint department at American Home and Hardware for several years. He was also employed at Martin’s grocery store as a checker, drove school buses, and worked at Herr’s Snack Factory.
Donnie treasured family and friends. He was a tremendous support to his father and mother, especially through illnesses. He enjoyed having long chats and many laughs with friends, as well as helping others. Donnie’s last words were to his mother, when he said, “Love you”.
His many hobbies included yard and garden work, couponing, shopping, cooking, baking, and caring for dogs. He enjoyed playing BINGO and told his “BINGO girls” that they were sure to win if they sat on a napkin, while playing. Donnie and his family were known for their massive display of Christmas lights in their front yard. Another favorite activity was cooking for the American Legion.
Donnie is survived by his loving mother, Betty Irene White; and his beloved Pomeranian dog, Penney. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Edward White; paternal grandfather, Charles White; paternal grandmother, Anna Bostic White; maternal grandfather, Morris McDonald; maternal grandmother, Frances Emma McDonald; aunt, Irene Hall; and several beloved pets. Donnie will be remembered for his friendliness, his willingness to help others, and his warm smile.
Services for Donnie will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911. Family and friends may attend the viewing at 10:00 AM. Interment at Rose Bank Cemetery will follow immediately the service.
