Donald C. McKenney also known as (Mac) age 82 of Pike Creek passed on peacefully to his eternal home with his daughter Penny and son Stephen lovingly by his side. Donald was married to his wife Hilda for 56&1/2 years. He was born in North East, MD on August 31, 1934 to the late Raymond T. McKenney and Fannie L. (Hopkins) McKenney.
Donald worked for twenty-three years as a stockman for General Motors. He also worked for Johnson Controls in New Castle, DE, where he eventually retired. Donald served his country in the United States Navy. He was a lifelong member of the Korean War Veterans Association and VFW Post 475 in Newark, DE. Donald loved his family, fishing and the Delaware Blue Hens. Donald was a hard and dedicated worker, never calling in sick or taking a vacation day. He will be truly missed by his children who lovingly cared for him the last 22 months before God called him home. The family would like to thank all that helped him, as well as the family as a whole. God planned and placed each one of you to help be our guide from the beginning to the end.
Donald is survived by his son, Jeffrey D. McKenney; son, Stephen McKenney; daughter, Penny McKenney; grandson, Jeffrey D. McKenney, Jr.; grandson, Michael McKenney; granddaughter, Melinda McKenney Wellbourne (Tim); granddaughter, Miranda McKenney; granddaughter, Marina McKenney; four great-grandchildren and niece, Diane McKenney. In addition to his parents, Donald is predeceased by his wife, Hilda McKenney and brother, Phillip “Ralph” McKenney.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A memorial service for Donald C. McKenney will be held at a later date.
