Donald “Don” Bruce Lindsay, Sr. of Newark, DE, age 80, passed away at home on Sunday, July 17, 2022. He was born on October 17, 1941, in Youngstown, OH to the late William and Mona Lindsay, and moved with his family to Delaware in 1946.
Don joined the United States Marine Corps right out of high school and proudly served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiasts and rider, especially enjoying Harley Davidsons. Don was a member of the ABATE motorcycle club, which served the community with various activities including toys for tots, and honors for veterans. Don liked to build models and collected toy cars. He loved to watch Western movies and Nascar. Above all, Don found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, to whom he was devoted, at holiday gatherings or keeping up with weekly phone calls.
Don is survived by his son, Brock Lindsay (Kelly); seven grandchildren: Brandon (Amy), Blaire, Carley, Jake (Colleen), Cole, Triston, and Vinny; two great-grandchildren: Chloe and Reagan; niece, Julie Monterosso (Dave) and beloved dog, Roscoe. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lindsay; son, Donald Lindsay, Jr.; sister, Lori St. Amond; and nephew, Scott St. Amond.
A visitation will be held on July 28, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 12:30 pm on July 29, 2022 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711, where family and friends may begin visiting at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
