Donald A, Hopson, Sr., age 62 of Newark, DE, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at his home in Newark. He was born on June 6, 1954, in Darby, PA to the late Robert and Dorothy Carlin Hopson.

Don (as his family called him, although he loved being called Donald) was a family man who enjoyed being with his family, watching cartoons with his grandkids, and relaxing in Paradise at Hideaway Beach (C-7 and Holly). Don spent his career as a diesel mechanic and his hobbies were fixing anything with a motor, fishing, riding motorcycles, and drinking coffee with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Lynn (Linda); son, Donald Hopson, Jr., of New Castle, DE; daughter, Erin Burdett, and her husband, Kevin, of Newark, DE; daughter, Nicole Hartnett, of Newark, DE; son, Sean Hopson, of Orbisonia, PA; sister, Sandy Drumm, and her husband Steve, of Boothwyn, PA; brothers, John Hopson and his wife Carol, of King of Prussia, PA, and Martin Hopson, of Collingdale, PA; 9 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his best friend Ginger, and extended family whom he loved and will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Robert Jr. and Joseph, and a grandchild, Johnathan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1PM on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713. Friends and family may visit two hours prior beginning at 11AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington, DE.
