Dolores Marie Morgan (Chura), age 92, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Born on February 23, 1931, in Binghamton, NY, Dee grew up in a large loving family with her four sisters and one brother. She married Rudolph (Rudy) Chura in 1953 and soon after, her husband accepted a job with the DuPont Co., relocating them to Newark where they purchased their first home in Chestnut Hill Estates.
When her children were younger, Dee was a homemaker. Years later, she worked as a secretary for various companies, the University of Delaware, International Reading Association and DuPont. Dee enjoyed bowling on a Women’s League, gardening and was an exceptional cook. Sunday dinners were always a special treat for her family with her famous homemade spaghetti sauce and pasta. She loved visiting Longwood Gardens, the Delaware beaches and enjoyed many years of vacationing in Ocean City, MD with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. In 1998, Rudy succumbed to colon cancer after being married for 45 years. Years later, she joined the Newark Senior Center where she met Donald (Don) Morgan. Her and Don married in 2003 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Elkton, MD, where they became members. They enjoyed traveling and spending time together. Don passed away in 2021, after 18 years of marriage. Dee’s health deteriorated and she lived her last few years with dementia at Meadowcrest Memory Care. We are grateful for the staff that took such great care of her.
Dee is preceded by her first husband, Rudolph A. Chura, second husband Donald F. Morgan, 1 brother, 3 sisters, and a granddaughter, Heather M. Spicer.
Dee is survived by her children; Mark R. Chura (Christine) of Lewes, DE, Cheryl Spicer (Dennis Sr.) of Bear, DE, stepsons Mike Morgan of Wilmington, Tim (Deborah) of Roanoke, VA and Brian (Anita) of Arnold, MD, as well as 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, her sister Patricia Painchaud (Richard) of Binghamton, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Elkton, MD, where friends and family may begin visiting at 10:00AM.
