Diane Marilyn Wass, 80, of Elkton, MD passed away peacefully at Union Hospital on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 after a brave and strong battle with Leukemia for two years. Born in Womelsdorf, PA on October 24, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Florence Boyer.
Diane was a graduate of Conrad High School and worked a multitude of years with Delmarva Power and later, retired from Shorehaven where she enjoyed investing in the lives of children with special needs. Once Diane became a mother to her two children, she took on her most important role of being a stay-at-home mother. Diane adored her children: spending time with them, helping with homework, and taking them to school activities. In her golden years, she enjoyed spending time and making memories with her family, especially her grandson. Diane enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, crossword puzzles, playing her favorite game, Farkle, and watching her favorite show, Blue Bloods. She loved a long chat on the phone with family and friends. Diane had a strong faith in God and enjoyed sharing about all of the ways He had blessed her in life, especially through tough times. She would willingly help any friend in need and volunteered with the prison ministry in Cecil County, offering hope to all who were willing to listen. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter Wendy Brennan (Mike) of Middletown, DE, son Michael Wass (Katrina) of Wilmington, DE, one grandchild Jason Brennan, brother Wayne Boyer (Janet) of Taylors, SC, sister Jeanette McCusker of Lodi, CA and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Florence Gibson of Waynesville, NC, Dolly Frymoyer of Reading, PA, Mary Spayd of Robesonia, PA, Evelyn Anzelone of Helena, AL, Sue Schmeck of Reading, PA and by brothers Robert Frymoyer of Reading, PA and David Boyer of Lansing, NC.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation at the R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, on Monday, August 18 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately.
