Diane Chalmers Roemer, age 89, of Bloomingburg, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5th. She was born on August 19, 1936 in Newark, DE to the late Irvin Neville Chalmers and Ann Regina Chalmers (Wright). Diane attended Newark High School and furthered her education graduating from the University of Delaware in 1958 where she met her husband of 65 years Edward H. Roemer.
Ed and Diane raised five children in Northport, N.Y. Her passion was interior design, decorating each of their homes with meticulous fashion. As the children got older, she took a job as an administrative assistant in a law firm. Upon their retirements, Ed and Diane relocated to Bloomingburg N.Y. Diane spent her retirement years gardening, creating beautiful needle point for her children, reading, and enjoying puzzles. Some of her fondest memories included time spent with the Red Hat Ladies of Bloomingburg.
Diane is survived by her five loving children: Katherine Roemer, Susan Reilly (Thomas), Lynda Stoegbauer (Scott), Jonathan Roemer (Alison), and Dorothy Ferrity (Thomas); nine grandchildren: Jack (Catherine), Ian, Kimberly, James, Annie, Edward, Alexis, Tucker, and Faye; and one great-grandchild, Roan. In addition to her parents, Diane is preceded in death by her husband Edward Hirzel Roemer.
Friends and family will gather Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 at 10am at R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., 122 West Main Street, Newark, DE 19711. A celebration of life will begin at 11:30 am. An internment will be held at a later date. To send online condolences, please visit www.rtfoard.com.
