Diana Wise, 53 of Lewes and Wilmington, DE passed away November 21, 2023. She was born August 20, 1970 in Wilmington DE to Susan Gassaway Curtis and Henry A. Wise Jr.
Diana was a brilliant teacher with a kind spirit and an outrageous sense of humor. She was a gifted naturalist who found great joy working with herbs, plants and flowers. She became a champion of the much-maligned dandelion. For her it was a symbol of life and light. She enjoyed the arts. She was a voracious reader and a talented, creative cook. Generous of spirit she made friends of all ages who shared in her love of art, music and dancing.
A devoted Quaker, she was a member of the Newark and London Britain Friends.
Diana is survived by her parents Susan and James Curtis, her siblings Susan (Tom) Orton, Meg (Todd) Berreth, Matt (Amy) Curtis, Jennifer (Rich) Curtis-Bell, Lucy (Charlie) Iliff, Alex (Wendy) Wise, Eva Douglas, Molly Peeples, many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as dear friends: Larry Thompson, Ruthie Thompson, Ellen Mackenzie, Greer Thompson, Gary Irving, Trebs Thompson and the bestest pup ever, Bodie Miller.
In addition to her father Diana was preceded in death by her Grandmother Elizabeth Gassaway and Aunt Sandra Tisdall.
There will be a get together to share memories, read a poem, laugh, cry, sing a song or just sit quietly and remember Diana in your own personal way on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Newark Center for Creative Learning (NCCL), 401 Phillips Avenue, during the Quaker Meeting @ 10:30. Come share in fellowship and love for our amazing friend. A larger celebration of life will be held this Summer (date/time TBD) at the London Britain Friends Meeting House in Landenberg, PA. More information to come next year.
