Denise Marie Boone, age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away on June 6, 2026. She was born on June 29, 1963 in Newark, DE, to the late Edward Vangorder, Sr. and Marie Dowd.

Denise’s greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished every moment spent with those she loved and created countless memories filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. Her caring spirit extended beyond people to all animals, who held a special place in her heart. She especially adored her faithful dog, Snoopy, and her beloved cat, Stormy, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.

Denise found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She had a sweet tooth and never passed up a good cupcake or favorite treat. She loved settling in to watch true crime shows, always eager to discuss the latest mystery. She enjoyed the thrill of thrifting, couponing, and searching for treasures at yard sales, often finding the perfect bargain and sharing her excitement with others.

One of Denise’s favorite places to be was outdoors with a cup of coffee in hand. Whether sitting on her porch or enjoying a beautiful day, she could spend hours talking with neighbors and friends. Her conversations, laughter, and genuine interest in others made everyone feel welcome and valued. She had a gift for turning acquaintances into friends and friends into family.

Denise will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of animals, her sense of humor, and the joy she brought to everyday moments. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Denise is survived by her children: Mason Vannucci and Kelly Boone; daughter-in-law, Denay Bailey; granddaughter, Layla Watkins; sister, Cheryl McCaffery; mother, Marie Dowd; nieces: Chrissy Schulz and Melissa McCaffery; nephew, Mark McCaffery, Jr.; great-niece, Lily Schulz; and great-nephew, Noah Schulz. In addition to her father, Denise is preceded in death by her child, Cindy Boone.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 2PM at White Clay Creek Cemetery, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road Newark, DE 19711.

I knew Denise for over a decade. She was a very strong force on our Civic Association Board. She helped to plan Easter Egg hunts at the park and always kept the elected officials on their toes. For Easter she would always make the day fun for all the kids. She will be missed greatly in our neighborhood and she left behind a very large hole in our community. Rest in Peace my neighbor and friend.

We knew Denise from the neighborhood civic association and from our regular walks. Denise would often be out on the porch, and we’d always hear a friendly “Hi Jack and Val”. We will miss that and her caring for others. We have been thinking about her family and have been sad since learning about her passing. Please reach out to us if we can be of any help.

My deepest condolences to the family. I will always cherish the memories we shared, especially the quiet afternoons by my pool where we would sit together, laugh until our sides hurt, and sometimes cry as we opened our hearts to one another. Our conversations about life, faith, and God meant so much to me. They weren’t always easy, but they were always real. I was deeply moved by your faith. Even when your relationship with God felt strained, you never let go. You continued to pray, to believe, and to hold on with a quiet strength that inspired me more than you probably ever knew. That kind of faith—honest, imperfect, and enduring—is something I will always admire about you. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for trusting me with your thoughts, your struggles, and your laughter. I will miss our visits more than I can say, but I will carry our memories with me always. They are a gift I will treasure for the rest of my life. Rest peacefully, Denise. You are loved and will never be forgotten.
