Dena Lee Harvey, age 70, lifetime resident of Chesapeake City, Maryland, and Bo Manor graduate class of ’73, passed away on July 4, 2025. She was born on June 3, 1955, in Wilmington, Delaware, the daughter of Eleanor Baker (Biggs) and the late Lawrence “Larnie” Charsha. She was also the devoted wife of the late William Harvey, who passed away in November of 2024.
Dena spent 34 dedicated years working in the warehouse at the Avon Company, where she mastered many roles. She was well respected by her coworkers for her strong work ethic, reliability, and friendly nature.
She had a deep love for the beach and boating, often enjoying time along the shores of Rehoboth and Lewes, Delaware. Artistic and creative, Dena found joy in making jewelry, painting, crocheting and doing other arts and crafts. Her green thumb was evident in her garden, where she especially cherished her blooming peace lilies.
Dena was known for her generous heart—always willing to help others and give whatever she could. She had a big smile and recognizable laugh that could light up a room. She loved being around people, hosting gatherings, and spending time at the local VFW with her husband. A natural caregiver, she found joy in cooking for her family and nurturing those she loved.
In addition to her father and husband, Dena was preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Johnson, and Audrey Pearce, who was like a second mother and played a vital role in raising her.
She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Baker; children, Tahnya Adams and her husband Donnie, and Jessica Harvey and her partner Brandon Duker; her grandchildren, Trevor Adams, D.J. Adams, and Ambrielle Duker; and great-grandson, Adrian Adams. She is also survived by her siblings, Suzanne Charsha, Steven Koch and his wife Becky, and Julie Bonventre and her husband Nino; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A dual service for Dena and her husband William will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 318 George Street, Chesapeake City, Maryland. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
