Dempsey S. Hughart, 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at his home May 11, 2012.
Born on September 17, 1929 in Marfrance, WV, Dempsey was the son of the late Samuel Lawrence and Ethel Quick Hughart. Dempsey served in the U.S. Army from 1951-53 and retired in 1989 from NVF in Newark after 30 years of service. He enjoyed camping, hunting and woodworking and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Frances Hughart of Wilmington; three sons, Edward Lee Hughart of New Castle, DE, Franklin Dempsey Hughart of Elkton, MD and Russell Wayne Hughart of New Castle; a son in law, Earl Bacon, two brothers, Phillip Allen and Roger, both of Cleveland, OH; an aunt, Virginia Hughart of WV; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Beatrice Linda Bacon who died in 1994, a grandson, Dale E. Bacon who died in 1980, three brothers, Johnie, Jesse and Mason Hughart; and four sisters, Bessie Hendricks, Silvie Dunn, Susie Richmond-Kirby and Goldie Christ.
A service honoring his life will be held at 11 am on Thursday May 17, 2012 at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 West Main St., Newark, DE 19711. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Wednesday May 16 from 7 – 9:00 p.m. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
