Deborah Trost Soukup

Deborah Trost Soukup, 71 passed away on December 26 with her loving husband, William Soukup, nearby.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 25, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Douglas C. and Elsie K. Trost. Deb was fortunate to have grown up in multiple states as well as in Belize, Mexico, and Nicaragua, due to her father’s work at Hercules, before settling down in Delaware. She worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 33 years, retiring in 2015. She loved her family, gardening, their dogs, and relaxing at the end of the day with Bill on the back porch.
Surviving are her loving husband, her brother Douglas Trost Jr (Ellen), and her sister Janet Renaud (Edward), Bill’s sister Kathy Reitzes, brothers John, Tom (Colin), Jimmy. Her sweet smile and love of family will be cherished and greatly missed.

Deb is one of the very best. What a tragic loss. My deepest sympathies to Bill and all of her family and close friends. I enjoyed the privilege of working alongside Deb for a portion of her long and successful tenure at Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was a tireless and tenacious executive. When given an assignment, you could just walk away, knowing that whatever result she developed would be sound and efficiently implemented. Bill I was so very sorry to hear of Debs passing. Memories of conversations we had in my office. Donna and I remember have fond memories of you and Deb at our wedding. Please know you are in our prayers.

I had the good fortune of growing up in the same community as Deborah and Doug. I recall the family was very nice and welcoming. I did't have a basketball hoop, and they always let me use their driveway court. I will keep the entire family in my thoghts and prayers in the days ahead.
