Deana Ann McGrady

Deana Ann McGrady, 64, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026. Born in Christiana, DE, on April 21, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Johnathan Weston Naylor and Linda Sonia Naylor (nee Garner), and the devoted wife of Michael McGrady. 

Deana dedicated more than 30 years to the Cecil County Public School System, serving in various positions, including as a lunch aide and, most recently, as a school bus driver. She had a special place in her heart for the children and always went above and beyond to make sure they were cared for and had what they needed. Throughout her years with the school system, Deana touched countless lives and was deeply loved and appreciated by students and staff alike. 

Deana was proud of her White Mountain Apache heritage and cherished the connection she felt to her Native American roots. She was also a talented crafter who enjoyed creating and painting a variety of items, including pots, planters, cookie jars, and other unique pieces. She proudly shared and sold some of her creations at local powwows. 

Deana had a deep affinity for animals and nature. She found joy in the beauty of the natural world and had a special fondness for animals, always showing them the same kindness and compassion she extended to the people around her. 

A wonderful cook, Deana had a gift for making sure no one ever left her table hungry. She could “feed an army,” and her family especially enjoyed her delicious Dutch-style ham. More than anything, Deana will be remembered for her heart of gold. She was a selfless and caring woman who always put the needs of others before her own. Whether it was a family member, friend, or one of the students she cared so deeply about, Deana was always ready to help. 

Deana’s kindness, generosity, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. 

In addition to her parents, Deana was preceded in death by her sister, Sonia Macintosh. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael McGrady, Sr.; her daughter, Deanna Roberts; her stepchildren, Michael McGrady, Jr. and his wife, Kristina, and Jeremy McGrady; her grandchildren, Lexi McGrady, Michael McGrady, and Jacob Snyder; her sister, Mae Dancy and her husband, Dan; her stepsister, Barbara Campbell; and many extended family members and friends. 

As per Deana’s wishes, services will be private.
