David Thomas Dickerson, 77, passed away on the afternoon of December 19, 2024, in Newark, DE. He was born on September 13, 1947, in Elkton, MD to the late Burton Russell Dickerson and Marietta Barbara (Garrett) Dickerson.
David was a sports lover. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and hunting. A huge Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens fan, he and his brothers were season ticket holders, though his true loyalty lied with the Washington Redskins. He spent 30 years of his working life with Delmarva Power until his retirement, and some time working for Valero Oil Refinery and Bayshore Ford. Although he was often a man of few words, he will always be remembered as a master storyteller, bringing them to life and engaging anyone who would listen. Above all else, his family and spending time with them was his greatest joy.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years: Debra Dickerson; his children: Lee Thomas Dickerson, Daryl Garrett Dickerson and his wife Jessica, and Jaclyn Ann Dickerson; his grandchildren: Jacob Lee Roberts and Garrett David Dickerson; as well as his brothers: Philip and his wife Peggy, Joel and his companion Suzanne, Burton and his wife Leana, and John and his wife Tracy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Dickerson.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on January 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the R.T. Foard Funeral Home Chesapeake City location, 318 George St. Chesapeake City, MD 21915. The family will begin accepting guests for visitation at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
