David Richard Howie, age 71, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born on April 16, 1952, in Upland, PA, to the late Walter Howie and Nellie Gwendolyn Howie (Grunwell).

David lived a majority of his life in Wilmington, DE and Newark, DE before moving to Elkton, MD ten years ago. He worked for Delaware Dry Good Company in Newark, DE for forty-two years in the warehouse. While David wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Phillies. David also loved sitting down to catch a NASCAR race or on a fishing adventure.

David is survived by his sisters, Carol Howie, of Elkton, MD, and Elieen Shappell (Paul), of Middletown, DE and brother, Thomas Howie (Lisa), of Elkton, MD. Along with five nephews and one niece. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother, Walter R. Howie.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 12:00pm at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where friends and family may begin visiting at 11:00an. A burial will follow at Brookview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made payable to “American Cancer Society” and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A.
