David Michael Mackie (69) of Elkton, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024. Born on December 1, 1954, in Elkton, Maryland, he was the cherished son of the late David Lewis Mackie and Judith Arlene Johnson. David was also the beloved husband of the late Kim Mackie, who passed in 2019.
A proud graduate of Elkton High School, Class of 1973, David embodied resilience and dedication. Serving his country with honor, he bravely served in the US Army from 1974 to 1977 during the Vietnam War Era. Following his military service, David applied his skills as an Electrical Technician at the Chrysler Assembly Plant in Newark, Delaware.
David found solace and joy in the embrace of nature, where his passion for hunting and crabbing flourished. Whether navigating the waters or trekking through the woods, he found peace in the serenity of the outdoors.
In addition to his daughter Julia Mackie, David was preceded in death by his loving parents and wife, leaving behind a void felt deeply by those who knew him.
He is survived by his son, David Michael Mackie II, of Elkton, MD, and step-son, Timothy Mackie of Fair Hill, MD.
David’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 11:00 am at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21911, where family and friends may begin visiting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Sharps Cemetery.
