David Douglas Dobyns, age 66, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024. He was born on May 4, 1957, in Long Beach, CA to the late Harlan Britton Dobyns and Betty Dobyns.
David was known for his intelligence, stubbornness, and personable nature. He was loved by many and had a caring personality that touched the lives of those around him. David had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He was an excellent cook, with Mexican cuisine being his specialty. He enjoyed visiting the rapids in Oregon. As a teenager, he excelled in athletics, particularly in football and baseball. David had a deep fascination with history and loved learning about the past. His love for the water was evident through his passion for boating. David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
David is survived by his daughter, Crystal Dobyns; stepchild, Leah O’Rourke; grandchildren: Allysen Caruso, Kendra Gonzalez, Aleah Gonzalez, Breanne Wortz, and Brandon Wortz; sisters: Lori Warshaw, and Debbie Roe.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his son, Michael Dobyns; and daughter, Kendra Dobyns.
Services for David will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
