David Boyd Blakeley Sr., age 68, of Colora, MD, passed away at his home Saturday, July 13, 2013. He was born on April 8, 1945 in Havre De Grace, MD to Jean (Boyd) the and late Marion Blakeley.
David worked as a crane operator and later as a job superintendent at Lee Foundation. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge of Port Deposit and served as the Lodge Master for several terms. An accomplished gunsmith, he owned and operated his own shop for many years and serviced many in the area including local law enforcement. He enjoyed collecting decoys and trains.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Bonnie Blakeley of Colora, MD; sons, David Boyd Blakeley, Jr. of Conowingo, MD and Michael Kevin Blakeley of Colora, MD; his mother Jean Boyd Blakeley of Calvert, MD; stepsons, Phillip Montgomery and his wife, Dara of Charlestown, MD and M. Todd Montgomery and his wife, Shelia of Rising Sun, MD; grandchildren, Alex, Madison, Harley, Herbie, John, Michael, Hunter, Candy, and Madeline; and 2 great grandchildren. David is also survived by his brothers, Leonard Blakeley of GA and Timothy Blakeley of WV; sister, Carol Williams of Conowingo, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, July 19, 2013 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home P.A., located at 111 S. Queen St. Rising Sun, MD 21911. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2013 and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Memorial contribution checks may be made payable to Harmony Masonic Lodge and mailed to the funeral home.
