Daria A. Whitehead passed away peacefully at age 85 on January 25th, 2024 surrounded by her family and wonderful caregivers at home in Palmyra, PA. Daria was the daughter of Nicholas and Pasqualine Scarpitti. 

Daria enjoyed an active life of traveling, gardening, cooking, and listening to music. She was happiest when dancing with her husband on a dance floor or in her kitchen. She was also a devoted parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in New Castle, DE. Daria will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Pasqualine (Deramo) Scarpitti, her daughter Daria Lyn Whitehead, and her husband Harvey H. Whitehead. She is survived by her son Harvey Whitehead (Carolyn), her daughter Patricia Tinsman (Paul), and grandchildren Cara, Carly, Josh (Renee), Lynn (Andy), Ethan (Kelly), Cassidy (Jonathan), Chase, Conrad, Aidan, Gregory and Kylee. 

A Visitation will be held for Daria on February 5th, 2024 from 10:00am-11:00am at R.T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home 122 W. Main Street Newark, DE 19711. A Celebration of Life Service for Daria will follow at 11:00am at the Funeral Home. A Burial and Committal Service will be held immediately following at Gracelawn Memorial Park 2220 N. DuPont Hwy Newcastle, DE 19720. 

Daria and her late Aunt Vin were very close and because of that the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Carlo DeStefano, 1133 S. DuPont Hwy New Castle, DE 19720 to be placed in the account for the care of Vinnie’s disabled daughter. 

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers that made Daria part of their family, and the Amedisys Hospice of Lancaster PA team for giving her endless compassion and care.
