I remember my first week teaching in Cecil County, and I didn't have a place to live. Dan came up to me after soccer practice one day and asked me if I wanted to stay at his house temporarily. Next thing I knew, I was sleeping in his daughter's bedroom (without his daughter, of course). But that was Dan, just a kind, generous, big-hearted guy. He will be missed.

My condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Schnatz's family. Although I only had the opportunity to play for him for one season, I was fortunate enough to be given the gift of his defensive football knowledge and insights, as well as his overarching understanding of the game itself. I will forever be thankful to Coach Schnatz for having shared those gifts with me, and I know that, over the years, they've helped make me a better football coach on the field, and a better person off of it. Though I haven't seen much of Coach in the thirty-five years since I last stood on the field with him, every time I did see him he always greeted me warmly and sincerely asked me how things were going for me. Coach Schnatz was a good man and a good football coach, and it was my good fortune to have had him help me on my way. Thank you, Coach rest in peace.
