Connie Jade Russell of Rising Sun, MD, age 84, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023. She was born on July 19, 1939, in Woodbridge, NJ, to the late Norman Edward Simpkins and Mildred Adel (nee, Dawson) Simpkins.

Connie was a hardworking and spirited individual who touched the lives of many. She served as a Toll Collector for the State of Delaware and also worked as a waitress at various restaurants in New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware. She had a mischievous streak that added a unique charm to her personality.

One of Connie’s great joys in life was participating in Equestrian Shows and showcasing her love for horses. She had a knack for finding hidden treasures at yard sales, and she was an avid collector of Indian artifacts. Her love for reading romance novels was another cherished pastime. Connie’s warm and vibrant spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Connie is survived by her three loving children: John “Rusty” Russell, Jr. (Diana), Steven Russell, and Linda Conley; ten adoring grandchildren: Colleen, Sara, Julie, Rachel, Jackie, Jamie, Stephanie, Jodie, Michael, Matthew; and twenty great-grandchildren: , Cassidy, Addison, Alyssa, Grayson, Emmerson, Briana, James, Kendra, Piper, Isabella, Savannah, Noah, Sophia, Dylan, Jay-Lynn, Tymber, Dallas, Darrell, Tristen and Kyair.

She is preceded in death by her son, Danny Russell; daughter-in-law, Sara (Kim) Russell; brother, Tim Simpkins; and sister, Thelma Griffin.

A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 South Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may begin visiting at 1:00 PM.
