Clinton Ellis Bowers

Clinton Ellis Bowers, age 89, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024. He was born on April 23, 1935, in Beaver Creek, MD. Clinton was the son of the late Eugene Baker Bowers, and Flora Naomi (Hoffman) Bowers.

Clinton was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather and was married for 68 years to his beloved wife, Ruth Bowers. He was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Following his military service, Clinton pursued a career as an Industrial Engineer at the Chrysler Corporation. In the community, Clinton was known for his generous spirit and his ability to always see the good in others. He was a member of various organizations, including the PTA, the Touch Down Club (which raised money for high school sports), and served as a commissioner in Rising Sun. Clinton had a passion for sports, especially baseball. He loved watching the Orioles, coached Little League, and served as the President of the Rising Sun Little League. Clinton was also actively involved in his children’s school activities, coaching softball, and baseball. After retirement, Clinton enjoyed wood working. He will be remembered for his kindness and his dedication to his family and community.

Clinton is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Ruth Bowers; son, Clint Alan Bowers and his wife, Jan; daughter, Tami Wiggins; grandson, Hunter Wiggins and his wife, Monica; 1 great grandson on the way; and sisters: Ruth Conway and Dorthea Heavnar.

In addition to his parents, Clinton is preceded in death by 9 siblings.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to “Rising Sun Little League” and send in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.

I wish to express my condolences and sympathy to the family of Clint Bowers. I had the pleasure of working for Clint starting in 1973 until his retirement. He was my mentor and most of all, a wonderful friend who provided me guidance and an abundance of confidence throughout my 36 years at Chrysler. He was feisty at times when he knew he was right and that’s what he instilled in me. I wish I had an opportunity to share some of those memories again before he passed. He certainly will not be forgotten by me and others who were fortunate to have known him.

So many awesome memories of your Dad- how about all those trips to go roller skating, Halloween haunted houses and the disco?? Mr. Bowers was always up for playing g taxi driver for a bunch of teen girls!! I hope you find peace in all the memories and celebrate a life well lived and well loved.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

So many wonderful memories! I admired him so much. We all are better people for knowing him as well as R.S. for him having been such a part of it. Special man !!

Ruthie, Tami , Clint, & family So sorry to hear of Clint’s passing. Extending my deepest condolences and prayers for this most difficult time. So many great memories of Clint, working together, fishing and vacationing with Clint and Ruthie. We still have the birdhouse he made for us ( replica of Nutters store) Clint was such a giving and generous man, he taught me a lot over the years When things looked the worst Clint always had the answer. I considered Clint one of my best friends.
