It is with great sadness that Clifford “Cliff” Dwight Peterson, age 60, of Chesapeake City, MD passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, with his wife of 22 years, Amanda VanScoy, by his side.
He was born in PA to the late Clifford A. Peterson and Helen Ruby (Pruitt) Peterson.
He had a love for nature and often found solace in the tranquility of the great outdoors. His adventures in the woods and fields of the Cecilton farm that he hunted since childhood, were not just about the hunt but also about the camaraderie shared with friends and family.
In addition to his passion for outdoor pursuits, Cliff’s legacy extends beyond his pursuits and into the lives of those he touched. As the previous owner of the MAPPA Pool League, he fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among players. His skill and passion for the game earned him recognition, including victories in major tournaments in Las Vegas alongside his teammates.
His love for competition didn’t end there; Cliff also found joy in the strategic game of Texas Hold’em, making trips to Las Vegas to test his skills in the World Series of Poker.
Yet, amidst his competitive spirit, Cliff possessed a heart of gold. His ornery personality was matched only by his generosity and compassion. He was great with children, particularly his grandchildren, whom he adored spending time with. Whether teaching them to fish along the water’s edge or sharing stories of his adventures, Cliff created cherished moments that will live on in their hearts forever.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Amanda VanScoy, who shared countless memories and weathered life’s storms. Sons: Clifford M. Peterson, Corey Peterson, Joshua VanScoy, wife Cassie, Travis Weaver, fiance, Roshini, and Tyler Weaver, wife Fidan. Grandchildren: Noah, Reed, Chase, JJ, John Paul, and Zoë. Brothers: Robbie Miller and Eddie Miller.
In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by his uncle, Wallie “Gator” Peterson, and wife Gracie, and his father-in-law, Joe Monger. As, well as other Aunts and Uncles.
Cliff was the solo proprietor of Cliff’s Peterson Bay Country Builder for the past 35 years. As well as being a member of the Moose Lodge 851.
Cliff’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him. His laughter, his warmth, and his larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Cliff’s life will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 12:00pm, visitation will begin at 11:00 am at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main St. Elkton, MD 21921, where family and friends will come together to honor his memory and find solace in each other’s embrace. Burial will follow at Cherry Hill Cemetery.
Though Cliff may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to shine brightly through the memories he created and the lives he touched.
May he rest in peace, forever remembered and forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Amanda VanScoy 538 Biddle St. Chesapeake City, MD 21915 to assist with medical bills in honor of Cliff’s legacy of compassion and love.
